HELLO! My name is Cindy, and I get bored easily, so I move around and live in a couple different countries. I am attracted to the weird and the alternative, which often leads to interesting experiences, some of which I can never publish. Because, Society.

Many of my friends reckon I should keep a blog – writing about my travels and endless “Cindyisms”. I also like philosophizing about Life, and Death, and everything in between.

I originally created this site as an extension of my Marketing CV (so you’re going to see various Marketing related content all over the place; the entire About page is written from a Marketing point of view). In 2016 I left the corporate world and a “normal life” to go on a search for deeper meanings. I’ve been “homeless” and “jobless” for a year ish now, and here’s what I’ve learnt on my journey so far…

The synthe(cindy)sizer:

Synthe(cindy)sizing data, information,                                                                                                  and human relationships in this digital age

(Marketing CV)

I am a fearless big-picture thinker. My work is not just about Marketing – it’s about the impact it creates, in the world, and in the lives (both online and off) of every person on Earth. Technology has changed the way we live – from the way we communicate with others on a daily basis, to how we work and where we work. I am somewhat of a digital native, being born in 1989, so I remember the days of dial up and before Google (ask Jeeves, anyone?). We have come a long way since. Mars could now be a reality – humans could become inter-planetary or even inter-dimensional beings!

I grew up in Singapore, where technology has permeated every part of the typical Singaporean’s life, with the nation’s strong focus on efficiency and advanced tech. In 2012, I moved to New Zealand, and I’ve lived there since… Until now. Currently based in the Netherlands!

Tech-wise, I believe that there is massive room for businesses to grow, and I’m not just talking about jumping onto the Social Media bandwagon! We are living in the age of artificial intelligence. Think of the things we can achieve… However, we must always remember that at the heart of every Brave New World is a human story – therefore globally speaking, there is a need for personalized customer interaction, a focus on enhancing the unique user experience, and more compassion for each other in general.

I bring with me boundless enthusiasm and useful international marketing skills. I would love to be a part of the I.T revolution, as we transform the lives (both online and off) of people all over the world.

Here’s a quick 45 sec introduction vid of me!

Origins – Media/Writing

When I was 10, I wanted to be a journalist – writing specifically for The Straits Times, Singapore’s highest-selling paper. So when it came time to decide on my post-secondary education, I went with a Diploma in Media Studies & Management (known nowadays as Diploma in Media Studies & Mass Media Management). After my first year there, I realised that journalism isn’t for me. Or at least, serious journalism. I rather enjoyed writing movie reviews:

Hellboy II review, 2008

While I love writing, I didn’t want my entire job to revolve only around that. Then, I discovered studio production!

In the control room, 2008
Trying out hosting, 2008

After that, I toyed with the idea of working for a film distributor, as movies fascinate me. From an idea/concept becoming a script, gathering a cast and crew, shooting the movie, editing it, to marketing it, and finally reaching an audience, I felt like that was what I wanted to be involved in. So I became a Production Assistant for Just For Laughs Asia, occasionally helping out as a talent, which led to a couple of other stints on TVCs and indie movies.

Mucking around on camera, JFL Asia 2009
Sony Bravia Skype TVC, 2011

Then, life happened, and in 2012 I found myself in New Zealand…
